This video features our search for tranquillity as the Taff flows through the urban landscape of Cardiff. The research into community engagement seeks to improve community listening skills and auditory awareness and is a collaboration with M. Fedeski of Welsh School Architecture. This phase of RiverSonics seeks engagement with the River Taff and its communities.
Following the River from it source in Brecon Beacons to estuary at Cardiff, the aim is to foster 'community river custodians'. River Taff needs our help to further recovers from its industrial and polluted past. As the river becomes clean and safe for leisure and public access, the long-term objectives are to understand better the broader ecology, making visible the health benefits the river has offered to the community for millennia.
RiverSonics III is also part of community project Living Taff celebrating the river. Projects are planned around water quality, planting and resurfacing schemes for flood protection and invasive species mapping also lectures and music events over the coming months.
