Above: Guest theatre director Phillip Mackenzie delivers a communication workshop.
Most Thursday evenings at 6 pm a special group (Manic Theatre) meets at ArtHub to explore sound and performance at Zion Chapel in Bonymaen. Initial sessions hosted with Director Ashley Mansell, include learning to conduct interviews and making soundscape recordings to enhance the online performance of Copperoppolis, a play written for the group’s inauguration in 2015 by Rev. Chris Lewis.
These workshops promote attentive listening interviews along with new communication skills and confidence building. The techniques include playing, analysing and hearing back your voice in high-quality recordings. Many new subject matters are explored with family and friends, including opportunities to share personal writings and poetry.

Developing the Copperopolis play, we are script reading, the Manics working with theatre director Philip Mackenzie. They have developed new versions of the play tied more closely to their current lives. Phillip joins us again to record this new poetic script with added Welsh sections, on Sunday 15th September. Once recorded all the sounds collected by the group will be edited into the mix to give atmosphere for the listeners, situating the players in locations that help tell their story - Ordinary People by Manic Theatre collaborating with Artstation.
